Hungry.

"Hungry I come to You
For I know You satisfy
I am empty but I know
Your love does not run dry
So I wait for You
So I wait for You

I'm falling on my knees
Offering all of me
Jesus You're all
This heart is living for

Broken I run to You
For Your arms are open wide
I am weary but I know Your touch
Restores my life
So I wait for You
So I wait for You"

Lately I feel like I've been surrounded by a lot of cross roads. Some roads seem harder and challenging. Roads which I don't know anything about, past the fact that they'll require completely reliance on God and vast amounts of patience and trust. Other roads seem simpler and easier, but even in the beginning there is not a lot of "Godly presence" there. I know that, in the end, these won't truly make me happy and in the end, if I were to follow them, I would be far from the life that God has intended for me.
But... I don't know exactly WHAT God has intended for me. There are some aspects of my life that seem to be rather interestingly fitting and unique, like a puzzle or something. But when it comes to this puzzle of life, I don't have a picture on a box to look at while I'm trying to piece everything together. I have clues, ideas, hopes, but I also have fear that I'm just projecting my own will and trying to write it off as God's Will.
So here I am... waiting.
All I can do is wait and listen for God to tell me what's next, what step to take, and offer myself to him as a living sacrifice.
Easier said than done.

MUCH easier said than done.

Forgiveness is the fragrance

Vroom. Vroom.

The first week of the second semester has come and gone, and I think it was quite successful. I have conversations I needed to have, bonded with people I needed to bond with, and even opened up some schoolbooks and studied along the way! I don't think I could have asked God for more.
Which brings me to a topic that's been floating around in my head for the past few days: would God ever give you something you ask for, but that isn't necessarily what you're supposed to have?
(Bad Example Alert!): Let's say you need a car, and you're parents are going to buy it for you. You don't know what kind of car you're going to end up getting, but you have some specific things which you would appreciate your car to have, like a 5 star safety rating, top of the line seat belts, and the ability to drive well in snow.
You're out and about, waiting for the perfect car to come along, when you realize that a car has been right in front of you the whole time at the car dealership you often frequent, which has every single quality you expect, along with an awesome stereo system and heated front seats.  This car is a bit pricey and you don't necessarily know if you deserve this car, so you don't even ask your parents for this one, because you're too afraid the final answer will be know. (but they VERY well know that you want this car.)
Anyway.... another car comes along and it seems pretty great. Reliable... durable... only problem is, it doesn't exactly match up to everything you wanted in a car. It still has a good safety rating, but it's 3.5 stars instead of 5. It doesn't have seatbelts in the back, but they're still intact in the driver and passenger sides. And the snow? well.... as long as you constantly check the amount of antifreeze in the engine (because there's a slight leak), it should still be fine. Whether or not it's a good car isn't the question, whether or not it's the right car for YOU is the issue at hand. You know your parents know what's best for you, and you therefore mention this car to them, as something you're interested in. Maybe you even beg for it.
A month later.... the car that doesn't meet your standards is sitting in your garage, while the other car that you actually secretly desired the most is still sitting at the car dealership.

Would God ever do this? What if the car "your parents" gave you isn't the one you'll end up driving?
Maybe this is more of a theological question, but any opinion on this I would be greatly interested in hearing about. I've never thought about it before. I know that God always supplies our needs, but would He ever supply a want, even if it's not something we're necessarily meant to have?

New Chapters.

A lot has changed over the past year. Who I was at the beginning of 2010 is definitely a different person from who I was during 2011. The changes that occurred were not only hair color and personal style, but I definitely went through a huge personality change.
Who I became towards the end of senior year, and throughout the summer, is NOT the person I ever want to be again. A few months ago, towards the beginning of November, I had a relapse. School had been going SO well, and I felt like I was on the right track and pace in my relationship with God. So much so, in fact, that I became prideful and completely trusted myself, when I still really hadn't gained by my own trust in myself. I let my guard fall, and then I fell.
Temptation is always around you. When Satan can't get you one way, he'll hit you from another angle. Especially when you're pride is in the way.

Anyway, I made a mess of things. This is something I definitely regret, and I'm still having to learn to forgive myself. Knowing that God's forgiveness is there, and that the people around you have forgiven you too, isn't enough. I think you can KNOW that you're forgiven, but it isn't REALLY until you forgive yourself that you really BELIEVE in the forgiveness. I may be wrong in this point; it isn't something I've exactly mulled over for hours. What I do know for sure, is that self forgiveness is vitally important.

So here's to the new semester and the 2nd chapter of college: new classes, new furniture arrangment, new friends, new room mate; and here's to embracing the changes, righting the wrongs, and learning how to truly live a life of love.
